My Diary
Hi guys,
Looking forward to writing and replying on this new forum. I really hope Leo and the gang can make this into the biggest cricket forum on the Web and I will certainly be backing it.
Leo has asked me to initially fill forum readers in on my recent few weeks activity, so here goes:-
Ive been back in training 4 days a week with Yorkshire CCC from the 1st November now (since my re-signing from Derbyshire). It is mainly gym and fitness work, with one individual batting session a week with head coach Martyn Moxon and batting coach Kevin Sharp. Things are going well and Im looking forward to pre-season nets that kick off on the 1st February.
Away from my job as a Professional Cricketer, I own and run a cricket coaching business in Derbyshire and Yorkshire. It is www.procricketcoachingacademy.com and I have just merged with my best mate who also plays for Yorkshire, Andrew Gale. His Academy is www.procoachcricketacademy.co.uk . We will be the biggest Coaching Academy in the UK covering Yorkshire/Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire/Staffordshire/Cheshire/Shropshire and other small places. We are setting up new courses all the time. If anyone would like us to run a coaching course in their area please get in touch at procricketcoachingacademy@hotmail.co.uk if you think numbers will not be a problem to get.
I initially founded the Academy 2 years ago I have a passion for cricket both playing and coaching. It can just be as rewarding seeing someone develop their game under your coaching as playing sometimes. All our coaches are current or ex Professional Cricketers, a service we believe to be unique. The feedback and reviews we have had about our Academies has been overwhelming and they are going from strength to strength. The courses are mainly aimed at 6 to 11 year olds and then the older groups are 12 to 17 year olds. The most rewarding part is that at least 10 of my young cricketers made their County youth team this Winter when none of them did this time last year. Perhaps the stand out of these is a young lad called Ben who is 8 this week. He cam to me at 6 years old having never played cricket before. Last month he got into the Derbyshire under 10s squad 2 years under age, very proud of his achievement.
Away from coaching I also set up a small business selling really thin bats and tiny tennis balls www.playinthevcricketbats.com . From my coaching I found that the main 2 technical problems of youngsters is that they don't play straight and they don't watch the ball onto the bat. The Play in the V idea solves both these problems as you have to play straight as the bat is so thin and if you don't watch the tiny ball you miss it!! These have been a great success and we sold 200 in the first 6 weeks including being stocked by www.pure-cricket.co.uk and www.pro4sport.co.uk , 2 big cricket retailers.
If anybody has any questions (as long as they are sensible and I dont get 20+ questions I would be happy to answer them. Also, if anyone can help my cricket coaching website get any decent links or know of a potential sponsor for the website please email me at the above pro cricket hotmail account.
Thanks for reading, feel free to pick my brains, and remember to support this website www.facricket.tk and get as many as you can using the forum.

Re: My Diary
Superjaffa. You can use hard balls with it or on the machine. It isnt English willow as we would be charging (like others do) £50+ for the bat alone. It is kashmir but to be honest you arent buying it for it's ping, it is for technique work and to make you a better batsman.
Hope this helps and you decide to get one and improve your batting.

all the best for the new season chris! although as you play for the enemy may you rip your trousers in front of the tv screens and get out to a double bouncer. After i've had my laugh work your socks off and get into the england team! (i'm not being sarcastic at the eng team bit as it is probably your dream to play for them!)

You get the mini tennis balls, and the bat is much thinner than others.
Hope this helps.
