pakistan tests stats
In 2007, Pakistan played only 8 test matches. We won only 1 and lost 4 and drew 3. To put it another way, we played 3 test series and lost ALL three of them. A pretty dismal performance. We lost away series in SAF 1-2, home series 0-1 and an away series in India 0-1.
Below we look at the batting and bowling stats for Pakistani players in Tests for 2007.
Test Batting Stats – Only three batsmen carried the burden of the batting on their shoulders....Misbah, Younis and Yousaf to some extent. Every other "specialist" batsman was a huge disappointment. Sami had HIGHER batting average than Faisal Iqbal and Mohammad Hafeez!!!
Captaincy burden may have impacted Malik's performance with the bat....but hopefully he'll improve next year.
Selectors kept playing musical chair with the openers. It seems like Salman Butt has settled down but we are STILL looking for his partner.

Test Bowling Stats – Bulk of the bowling was done by Kaneria (the work horse). He bowled 63 overs per match and was rightfully the highest wicket taker of the year with 37 wickets. Shoaib played in 4 test matches and bowled only 27 overs per test (surprise, surprise!).
No other bowler played in all 8 test matches. All most all the bowlers were injured at one time or the other. Asif and Akhtar were 2nd and 3rd highest wicket taker considering they played in only 5 and 4 tests respectively.
Yasir Arafat and Sohail Tanveer looked very promising as they made their test debuts in India. Hope they improve with the passage of time!
Sami.....what can I say?? Just like last few years, he bowling was much better than the final stats. Only if the chances were held off of his bowling!!!

Kamran Akmal held 25 catches and made 2 stumpings in 8 tests...while dropping countless catches. He had a horrible year behind the stump and surprisingly still holds his place in the team

Re: pakistan tests stats
Current team needs a better leader. Shoaib Malik is too depressed all the time and if you ask me, he barely is justifying his selection at the moment, let alone be the captain. Younus was a much better option to persue and convince and Afridi wasnt bad either. I hope that 2008 would be better.
