Did You Know? Empty Did You Know?

Post by Danny on Mon Jan 14, 2008 12:41 pm

In this topic I will be giving to you some of my cricket knowledge. Everyday I will post a new fact or story about the history of cricket. I would appriciate it if this topic was kept a minimal as possible, so please do not post things like "no ididnt no that" Thanks.

Right, did you know?

When cricket was growing in England match fixing was a huge trouble. Memebers of teams would bet against there own team and purposefully try to lose their match. This came to a climax in a match between two local villages were BOTH teams fixed the match so that their team would lose. The only problem being one man was not told about this deal. A priest on one of the teams broke a finger saving four radical over throws, took 10 wickets and heroically scored the winning runs, all with a broken finger.

Sorry, but why is this in the 'Other' section - it is cricket related?

Anyway, are we allowed to add these kind of things?

Apparently, one match lasted for like 20 years I think it was? They played one wicket on a certain day, and then came back and did the next one exactly a year on!
