Maxxed Member Interview
1.
What country and area do you play in?
I live in a village called
Billingshurst, in West Sussex, England. This is about 20 miles from Brighton, on
the South Coast. I play for a neighbouring village team, Barns Green. I have
been playing for them ever since a mate introduced to the beautiful game when I
was 9.
2. Is
this a good standard of cricket?
I have only really played colts'
cricket, until the end of last season. Living 10 minutes or so away from Barns
Green, it is difficult to get to know all the people I need to, and to get lifts
to and fro all the time. The Under 16s league I play in has a mixed standard,
with the top teams being the main Sussex county feeder teams (places like
Horsham). We generally come near the bottom of our league table, but I think we
are a good bunch of players, and with the right captain (namely me, as of this
year!), we should do better!
3.
What are your teas like?
That is one area Barns Green excels
at! In our region, there is an award for the best hospitality, and we have won
it for the last few years. All the parents chip in every week, with things like
cakes, melons, pineapple, veggies, loads! So much, you don’t want to play the
second half of the game, you just want to eat it all!
4.
Where do you hope to be with your cricket in 5 years time?
In 5 years time, I will hopefully be
at Uni, so playing for whatever universities’ team I go to would be nice. I want
to continue playing regularly, and progressing. I would love to play for the
home county Sussex, but it is a long way off. Oh well, one can
dream…
5.
What’s your proudest moment?
Depends how you interpret the
question! Damn, I really don’t know…
…my proudest cricketing moment would
probably be when I scored 43 off 34 balls for the team. It wasn’t so much the
fact that I got the team into a decent position, but managed to outscore the
cocky git on our team batting with me, who went in before me! Good enough
answer?!
6.
Best piece of advice for cricketers?
Never give up, and don’t listen to
anyone else!
