Pink Ball trial
Pink ball to be trialled at Lord’s
On Monday
21st April, the pink cricket ball will be trialled in a match at Lord’s
for the first time. A strong MCC team will play against Scotland in a
fifty-over contest at the Home of Cricket. Coloured clothing will be
worn and the sightscreens will be black. Each innings will trial a
different manufacturer’s pink ball. The captain who wins the toss will
have the choice of the Kookaburra or Dukes pink ball.
Throughout the day, spokespeople from both MCC and Imperial College
London will be available to speak to members of the media to discuss
MCC’s work in Research & Development in the game. Investigations
are being carried out on balls (white ones keeping their colour,
viability of pink ones), bats, illegal bowling actions and glued
pitches.
MCC’s team for the match against Scotland, beginning at 11am, is as follows:
Darren Bicknell (ex Nottinghamshire)
Chris Hollins
David Ward (ex Surrey)
Will House (ex Sussex and Kent)
Alan Duncan (ex MCC Young Cricketer)
John Stephenson (captain, ex Essex, Hampshire and England)
Josh Knappett (wk) (Worcestershire)
Matt Dennington (ex Kent)
James Hamblin (ex Hampshire)
Min Patel (ex-Kent and England)
Jon Wightman (ex Durham UCCE)
I rekon they will probably choose the dukes ball in the end unless it wears really badly or something... Im looking forward to this game!

Re: Pink Ball trial
I've heard this season our club are going to use these in our Twenty20 games, quite excited to see them really.

Re: Pink Ball trial
Yellow balls will not work. Orange are not the answer so pink or green is the way to go
Re: Pink Ball trial
saw pics of the pink ball - its not bright pink.. just a faded reddish colour
not much difference, except a realllly light shade of red

Re: Pink Ball trial
I have an Orange one, a Pink one and a Yellow one coming to see what they are like, and to use for catching practice with the colts. Should be interesting.
