Re: Sweep Shot Help!
When sweeping you need to get a large step down the wicket. Keep your head over the ball. Another key thing when trying to sweep is remaining calm, if you start panicing you will get flustered and not execute your shot effectively. As for getting out LBW a large step down the track should sort that out.

Re: Sweep Shot Help!
the ball that you are trying to sweep may be too full for that shot
Only attempt a sweep if the ball is in the right position and only start sweeping when you are "played in"

Yeah true fellas,
Also never try to over hit it as it only results to you missing it or getting out. Mark Taylor says to get your front pad infront of the stumps so you cant get bowled.

And most of all, make sure you pick the right ball to sweep. The last thing you need when your struggling with batting is a face full of leather! So make sure you pick the right ball to try and sweep.

Re: Sweep Shot Help!
My sweep shot advice is simply dont...The same balls you would play a sweep to u could easily just drive it between mid on and mid wicket against a spinner. It has come about in international cricket because there is normally only one fielder behind square on leg.

Re: Sweep Shot Help!
Limit this shot, its a very dangerous one to play. Since im left handed im not really the best at it and dont use it that much but the general rule is just keep your eye on it, take a kneww and smack lol

Re: Sweep Shot Help!
I would say get your head in line with the ball, be comitted- don't go half-heartedly, hit from high to low to high and most of all hit the ball-seriuosly don't try and over-hit it, just get bat on ball before you try to hit that one over the pavillion.

Re: Sweep Shot Help!
The sweep is such an excellent way of rotating the strike and picking up the occasional boundary that I would hesitate to put it in the locker as such, even if you struggle with it.
Lot's of practice in the nets should see it improve pretty rapidly and remember not to sweep on line but on length. Don't give up on it as when you get good at the shot your judgement will improve so even premeditated sweeps can be aborted to prevent taking a risk against a ball that just isn't there for it

Re: Sweep Shot Help!
Well I think that's very much incorrect. With a good knowledge of angles then 1s can be turned into 2s by hitting well either side of deep square and if it's really in the slot then there's a good chance that you can pick up a boundary too, especially if the man on the 45 is too fine as they often are
