Is Monty really better than Gilo?

Im not sure tbh...
He is a better bowler but giles is a FAR better batsman. Gilo has kept us in many matches with a few good 50's and also some sharp gully catches...
Monty has scored a few 0's and dropped a few catches - getting an ocasional 5 for

gilo all the was, after all he is the king of spain!!!!!! and he saw us home in the 4th test of the ashes in 2005 and scored a 50 in the final test

As they always say, a bowlers job is to get wickets- not runs. And Monty does just that so i'll pick him. In his short career, we have already seen him take some amazing wickets, claiming the scalps of Tendulkar etc. but it'll be interesting to see how he will perform after a dissapointing test series in Sri Lanka.

Just one look at his test bowling average shows him as what he really was, a mediocre spinner who clung onto the coat-tails of a superior 4-prong pace attack. Monty will be far better than Giles ever was, whether he can chip in with 20s or not

Yeah I agree now actually...I think he got 5 wickets the other day in the warm up match aswell!

I did like ashley giles but I think Monty will be awesome in two or three years time when he has matured a bit.
If he can improve a bit with the bat and get the odd 20 here and there and continue to bowl well i will be pleased!

I really like Monty he is a great bowler and a good character, and is really working hard at his batting anf feidling. You cant not like the guy!

cant agree with you more, always plays with a smile on his face and has a genuine enthusiasm to the game. His celebrations we all know about when he gets wickets just shows how excited he is- good player for the game in general to teach young lads to play in the right spirit

i think gilo is better coz he youst to contribute with the bat i can never see monty winning a game like gilo did in the ashes

when you say winning a game do you mean winning the game with the bat? Because i hope you are!

Giles barley turns the ball but the important thing is he puts it in the right places! Monty has struggled with this in the past few matches!
