Possible LBW help for umpires.
Me and a mate were thinking of a way to help umpires with LBW descicions. We thought that a substance could be painted from wicket to wicket on the pitch in a strip straight down the pitch, that would not effect the performance of the pitch. And the umpires were glasses so that only they can see the substance, this will help them see whether the ball pitches outside leg stump, or whether it hits the player outside the line of off-stump.
Most of this was my mates idea because i thought it was a bit far fetched, but you never know.
What do you think?

Re: Possible LBW help for umpires.
Nice idea...but wouldnt the glasses affect their view of other things such as run outs, edges, and catches?
Should of thought this through more mate!
I really think the umpires should just use their eyes...human error is part of the fun of cricket
And if they had that...you couldnt say " it was miles down leg" when you get out!

i dunno maybe you should just put the subtance on. Have u guys heard or seen of hotspot. if not its a infrared camera channel 9 (in australia). and a white spot shows up what the ball hit first. umpires dont use it tho.

Re: Possible LBW help for umpires.
Why dont we have Four Umpires Umpireing a match. SO at every break they change over to keep umps fresh?
Re: Possible LBW help for umpires.
We we already have four umpires in a match. The third and fourth umpires are not allowed to swap with the on field umpires, I think.
But I like your idea Noz, perhaps two more umpires to do shifts with the other umpires?

Re: Possible LBW help for umpires.
yes that is what i mean
Umpire A and B start in the morning
At lunch Umpire C and D come on
At Tea Umpire A and B come back on
You still have The 5th umpire which is the 3rd ump
Next day starts off with Umpired C and D so they all get time off to relax drink cool down and refresh.

Re: Possible LBW help for umpires.
yeah I like that idea, that would work quite well. Maybe you should suggest it to the ICC? lol
Re: Possible LBW help for umpires.
they usually arent anyway. 3rd and 4th umpires can umpire, if the selcted umpires are hurt or fall ill.
